A lucky girl.

Welcome to the Inspirations Blog!

I am super excited to see our new site finally go live and feel a bit like a kid getting ready for the first day of school.

Excited.  Nervous.  Mostly, just grateful.

A tremendous amount of thanks goes out to many people who have contributed to our new venture, but I am going to save most of my gratitude for a future post.

For now, this being my very-first-blog-post-EVER… I thought I would keep it short and sweet and thank the one person who has shaped me (and therefore, this business) more than anyone else.

Me and my amazing Mom!

The woman on the right is my Mom, Regina.  This beautiful lady raised me and my six siblings by herself with little more than the God given gifts of resourcefulness, determination and unconditional love for her children.

My Mom never finished high school, but (in my mind) she holds a Post Doctoral degree in Life.  Bring her nearly any problem or challenge and she can steer a crystal-clear path for you to follow.  Maybe because she has been there, maybe because she is just so insightful and incredibly empathetic.

She may not have read the classics, or be able to discuss micro-economics in great detail, but she has more integrity, poise and grace in her little finger than most could ever dream of.

When she enters a room, people notice.

People are struck by her warm smile, dancing eyes, and the feeling that when talking to her, there isn’t another soul in the room more important.

Maybe someday, my Mom will even do a guest blog post!  I will probably have to explain to her what a blog is, but that’s just fine with me.  I could never come close to teaching her all of the amazing life lessons she has shown me.

I am incredibly grateful to my Mom for all of her support and guidance in my life.  Without her steadfast belief in me throughout my life, this new venture would never have seen the light of day.

I am one lucky girl for lots of reasons.  But it all started with my Mom.

If you haven’t seen our story, check out our quick movie here:

I’d love to hear from you and how your Mom has influenced your life.

Very inspirational, Nicole. What a gift you have been given in your own mother! And your gift back to her – the gift of gratitude – is just as profound. How beautiful!

I cannot imagine a life without the gift of our mothers. Our mothers raised their children with a love and understanding that they were not given as children. Yet, they were able to show love and kindness throughout our lives; luxuries they were not afforded. Our mothers taught us to be independent and resourceful. Your mother ALWAYS made me feel as if I were one of her own. These women will always be my heroes.

      Michelle –
So beautifully written! I agree, it is amazing how our Mom’s were able to give us so much when they were given so little. xo

Congrats on the launch of the site and your first blog. Being a mom is the hardest job I’ve ever had – but I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

    • Nicole April 26, 2012 at 3:47 pm #

      Thanks Jen – so true!

    Wow Nicole!
What a neat (and inspiring) idea!
    Congratulations and good luck!!
My mom’s generous spirit, never-ending patience and friendly attitude inspire me every day! She reminds me to embrace each (long) day with my children because they grow quickly and will be all grown up before I know it.
She also encouraged me to pursue my passion, (Real Estate) and make a major career change during this busy time. Without her help (and my dad’s) I would never be able to pull it all off and keep smiling through it all!

Congrats on your site. It’s beautiful. My site is also inspired by my mom. She had been a fashion illustrator in the 50’s and 60’s and her work had been hidden away for over 50 years. I decided it was time for the world to see them again and so turned them into notecards and other products. She passed away about 7 years ago and this has been the most cathartic experience of my life. I think of her as my very silent partner. Good luck with the site. I hope it’s a great success!!
